Datum
Mandatory field
Date of the book entry. This is pre-filled the current date. More information about the date field in general, see Date field.

Description
The description of the book entry which will also displayed in the journal.

Account
Mandatory field
Enter the contra-account of the debtor / creditor account. In the case of a payment this would be the settlement account (e.g. bank account or cash).

Manage. With this button you can manage accounts. See Accounts.

Reference / Receipt
You can optionally enter a reference for the book entry which will be added in the Journal besides the document no.

Tax rate
Optionally enter a tax rate (sales tax). The tax rate is already pre-filled from the book entry template, or from the selected account. Usually, you don't have to manually choose a tax rate here.

Gross / Net
Mandatory field
Enter the amount for the book entry here. This field is pre-filled with the remaining amount which is still open in the document. E.g. if you have already added an installment. Otherwise this amount is equal to the total of the document.

Currency
Currency of the book entry. By default, the currency of the document applies.

Manage. With this button you can manage currencies. See Currencies.

This is a PRO feature (not available in the free version).

Exchange rate
You can enter an exchange rate here if a foreign currency was selected.

For simplicity the same exchange rate as for the document (e.g. invoice) is suggested here.

Note: If you use a different exchange rate from the document, it will automatically create an exchange difference book entry so the Accounts receivable account remains balanced. You can change the exchange difference account in the Settings.
